【研究成果及未來研究方向概要】
本人之研究重點乃專注於蜱媒介人畜共通傳染病(tickborne zoonoses)之相關研究,近年來之研究成果不但驗證台灣地區首例萊姆病(Lyme disease)及巴貝氏原蟲症(Babesiosis)之臨床病例,亦首次自台灣鼠類宿主組 織中分離及純種培養出萊姆病致病疏螺旋體(Borrelia burgdorferi),並進一 步分析台灣分離菌株(Twkm1-7)之蛋白組成、免疫抗原成份及其基因種株(genospecies)等基本特性,亦創造了亞洲地區首次基因種株(B.burgdorferi sensu stricto)之發表,並因而建立國內唯一之萊姆病感染診斷標準實驗室。目前成果除了證實萊姆病致病疏螺旋體(B. burgdorferi)存在於台灣粒形硬蜱(Ixodes granulatus)之事實,並首次自人體皮膚組織分離培養出多種基因 種株之致病疏螺旋體(B.burgdorferi sensu stricto, B. garinii, and B. afzelii),因而驗證台灣地區萊姆病致病疏螺旋體之基因多樣性(genetic diversity)。未來研究方向將著重在「蜱媒介人畜共通病原體之感染診斷試劑研發」、「台灣地區蜱媒介人畜共通病原體之分子鑑定分析」、「台灣地區蜱媒介人畜共 通病原體之分子流行病學」、「台灣地區蜱種之親緣演化及族群遺傳分析」及「台灣地區萊姆病感染與非何杰金氏淋巴瘤關聯性之探討」等相關基礎及臨床診斷研究。
